Aspiration Pneumonia

Oral bacteria can get into the lungs and cause aspiration pneumonia, a serious lung infection that can cause death. Symptoms of aspiration pneumonia can include:
- chest pain
- coughing up foul-smelling, discolored green or dark phlegm
- may contain pus or blood
- shortness of breath
- fever
- wheezing
- fatigue
- excessive sweating
